Short description | Alejandro Escobar Mundaca received his PhD in Music from the University of Sussex with the thesis Translating Poetics: Analysing the Connections Between Violeta Parra’s Music, Poetry and Art in 2019. He holds a Masters in Music as an Interdisciplinary Art from the University of Barcelona (2012), and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in guitar performance from the University of Chile (2010). He twice won first prize in the Festival Guitarras de América competition with his own compositions: Tres Aires Nortinos (2010) and Tres Pies de Cueca (2011). In 2018, he contributed with the chapter “I Don’t Play the Guitar for Applause: Turning the World Upside Down, ” to the book Mapping Violeta Parra’s Cultural Landscapes (Palgrave McMillan). |
